On December 10, the Production Technology Department of Guizhou Power Grid Company announced that by November 30, the total distance covered by drone inspections for 110 kV and above transmission lines in the region reached 25,054 kilometers, achieving a drone inspection coverage rate of 60.2% of the annual target. This marks significant progress in the company's efforts to modernize its power grid maintenance operations.

Since the start of this year, Guizhou Power Grid has actively implemented the requirements set by the network company. The company has established four key management systems, including the "Technical Guidelines for Inspection Operations of Multi-Rotor UAVs for Overhead Transmission Lines (Trial)". A total of 378 drones have been deployed, and 370 personnel have undergone UAV pilot training. Out of these, 94 individuals have obtained AOPA captain or operator licenses. In addition, the company has focused on improving data management and conducting intelligent analysis of drone inspection data to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Currently, Guizhou Power Grid is capable of identifying typical infrared and visible light defects using unmanned aerial vehicles. Pilots are also working on advanced research, such as image point cloud analysis, three-dimensional laser scanning, and aerial image 3D modeling for micro-drone inspections. These technologies enable precise assessments of critical factors like cross-overs, ground clearance, and tree obstructions along transmission lines.
To ensure proper management of drone patrol data, Guizhou Power Grid has completed the first phase of the aircraft patrol management platform’s secondary station. Key modules, including drone inspection plans, records, and patrol accounts, have been established. The system is now in place for effective information management. With the completion of the second phase in 2018, the platform will see improved stability, enhanced data storage capacity, and better integration with external systems, ultimately achieving full digitalization of drone patrol operations.
