In a recent collaboration, Cepton Technologies, a leading provider of 3D sensing solutions, has partnered with Clearpath Robotics, a renowned developer of autonomous mobile robots. Together, they are exploring the integration of Cepton’s HR80 series lidar sensors into Clearpath’s robotic systems, enhancing their capabilities for advanced navigation and environmental perception.
Julian Ware, General Manager of Research Solutions at Clearpath Robotics, highlighted the importance of visual intelligence in autonomous systems: “Unmanned robotic vehicles have the potential to take on the most hazardous tasks in industrial environments. The HR80W and HR80T models from Cepton are now being integrated into Clearpath’s self-driving robots, enabling enhanced object detection, mapping, and obstacle avoidance. By leveraging existing sensor technology, the partnership helps reduce both lead times and overall costs, while also supporting scalable production through automation.
The HR80T, in particular, offers a detection range of over 200 meters and features an impressive 80-line vertical resolution. Its angular resolution is 0.2° in both horizontal and vertical directions, making it ideal for applications requiring precision and accuracy.
