3D sensing technology suppliers and mobile R&D robot suppliers collaborate in the field of laser radar

According to Memes Consulting, Cepton Technologies, a leading provider of 3D sensing solutions, has partnered with Clearpath Robotics, a well-known developer of mobile robotic systems, to integrate Cepton’s HR80 series of LiDAR sensors into Clearpath's autonomous robots. This collaboration aims to enhance the perception capabilities of robotic systems, allowing them to perform more complex and critical tasks in industrial environments. Julian Ware, General Manager of Research Solutions at Clearpath Robotics, shared his insights: “Unmanned robotic vehicles are uniquely suited for high-risk tasks in industrial settings. For these robots to succeed, they need advanced visual capabilities. The development of 3D LiDAR technology has been crucial in enabling this. Cepton’s HR80 series delivers exactly what we need—high vertical resolution and reliable performance. Both the HR80W and HR80T models from Cepton are now being used by Clearpath to enhance the perception systems of their self-driving robots. By leveraging existing sensor technology, Clearpath is able to reduce delivery times and lower overall costs. Additionally, the production automation process makes large-scale manufacturing more efficient and scalable. The HR80T, in particular, offers a detection range of over 200 meters, with 80 lines of vertical resolution and an angular resolution of 0.2 degrees in both horizontal and vertical directions.
