working principle

The key component of the flashlight is a light-emitting tube that emits white light. The white-emitting light-emitting tube has a higher operating voltage than the other color light-emitting tubes, and is generally 2.5 to 3.5V. When the light-emitting tube starts to work, the brightness of the light-emitting tube increases with the increase of the passing current. When the current reaches 10 mA, the brightness does not change much, but the brightness in the darker part increases more. Therefore, it is determined that the working current is about 10~30mA.

Due to the high operating voltage of the white LED, the voltage of the two dry cells is low and the current is too small. Here, a booster circuit is used to boost the voltage so that the operating current of the arc tube is within the normal range.

The working principle is as shown in the figure below. The circuit has only 5 components in total. A self-excited oscillator is constituted by a triode VT, a transformer T, a resistor R, and the like. L1 is a booster coil. L2 is a feedback coil. In operation, the circuit generates a high frequency oscillation at a frequency of about 250 kHz, and a higher voltage is obtained at the collector of the triode, which is the sum of the battery voltage and the induced voltage of the coil to provide power to the LED of the LED. The resistor R is a bias resistor, and the capacitor C is used to improve the oscillation waveform.

Component selection

Transistor VT uses 9013 or 8050, and B is between 100 and 150. The magnetic core of the transformer T uses a high-frequency ferrite magnetic ring of φ9×4x3, L1 is wound with a diameter of 0.21 mm and the wire is wound 50 匝, and L2 is also wound with a 0.21 mm enameled wire. The resistor is 1/8W or 1/16W. Capacitor C uses a ceramic capacitor. The illuminating tube LED uses a commercially available φ5mm high-brightness white light-emitting tube.

Production and commissioning Due to the small number of components, the board is not used here, but the components are directly soldered and fixed in the flashlight. The specific method is: after the components are soldered correctly, first connect the circuit with two No. 5 battery power sources to see if the LEDs emit light. If the brightness is dark, you can try changing the coil L2. Use a multimeter current file string on the LED, it should have a current output of 10 ~ 30mA.

After working normally, look for a small flashlight (must have a larger head), solder the glass bulb of the original small bead to the soldering iron, and solder the tube to the small bead seat. Install the fabricated circuit on the head of the flashlight and try to connect the wires and fix them with glue.

After the modification is required, the flashlight head is screwed on, and it is convenient to unscrew it, and there is no possibility of jamming. This way, the tube flashlight is made.
