Mazda recently announced a major breakthrough in the new generation of internal combustion engine technology. For the first time, it has used a technology called homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) to significantly improve the fuel efficiency of the engine.
Mazda said that the core of HCCI technology is to eliminate the traditional spark plug ignition method, which is generated by the method of auto-combustion by the ultimate compressed air and oil-gas mixture. This ignition method can fully burn and the overall fuel efficiency of the engine is increased by 30%.
According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Mazda plans to assemble the new ultra-high-efficiency engine into its models in 2018. It is expected that 1L oil can run for 30km!
