Magna ICON RADAR continuously scans the four-dimensional space within a range of more than 300 meters, namely distance, altitude, depth and speed. This cutting-edge radar technology can detect and track more than 100 times more objects than competing products, and can classify objects one by one. It also detects different static surface features such as guardrails, road debris, speed bumps, etc., and interacts with the car. At the same time, it can track a large number of moving objects, such as cars, cyclists, pedestrians and pets.
Detecting and distinguishing very close small targets (such as children and cyclists) from large, easily identifiable targets (such as parked cars and moving trucks) is critical to the safety of advanced driver assistance systems. Only when the radar can correctly distinguish the two, driving assistance functions such as emergency braking systems can be further optimized, and the fully automatic driving technology can go further.
