As China’s first independently established premium automotive brand, WEY reflects Great Wall's ambition and determination to move upmarket. The recent release of the mid-size SUV VV7 has drawn significant attention, yet some have expressed concerns over its pricing being somewhat unaffordable for the average consumer. Today’s focus shifts to the entry-level compact SUV from WEY – the VV5. Often regarded as a “mini†version of the VV7, what makes this model stand out? Let’s dive into its key features.
The front end of the VV5 is quite distinctive, with a polygonal grille featuring a honeycomb texture and sharp headlamps designed in a three-bar pattern. The entire system employs LED lighting, which adds a touch of sophistication. A fully digital LCD instrument cluster is also available, complemented by high-quality materials including extensive soft-touch surfaces. In terms of equipment, the VV5 surprises with standard features such as one-touch start, automatic headlights, rear ventilation ducts, front seat heaters, lane-keeping assist, hill descent control, and more. Under the hood, the VV5 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 197 horsepower, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Expected to debut later this year, the VV5 represents WEY’s latest offering. Although its exterior and interior designs may lack groundbreaking innovation, the car excels in terms of build quality and material selection, showcasing impressive craftsmanship. However, the underlying powertrain components, including the engine, share similarities with those found in the H6, which might raise eyebrows among discerning buyers.
