Ericsson: 2026 China's 5G drive business scale of 158.9 billion US dollars 5G deployment leads the world

In 2030, 5G will cover more than 20% of the world's population. In 2026, the business scale driven by 5G will reach 158.9 billion US dollars, which is Ericsson's declaration. In the 5G field, Ericsson said that China's 5G deployment will lead the world, 5G trial commercial in 2019, and 5G large-scale commercial use in 2020.

Equipment operators who are preparing for 5G commercial applications are already thinking about the commercial scale of the 5G 5G market.

On December 19th, Zhang Zhiwei, chief market officer of Ericsson Northeast Asia, said at the media exchange meeting that by 2026, the business scale driven by 5G in China will reach 158.9 billion US dollars (about 1049 billion yuan).

5G is the fifth-generation mobile communication technology. The five major scenarios of 5G include massive IoT, enhanced mobile broadband migration and key IoT.

Ericsson lists the commercial potential released by 5G in various industries in China in 2026: 30 billion in energy and industry, accounting for 19%; 28 billion in manufacturing, accounting for 18%; and 200 in public safety 100 million US dollars, accounting for 13%; medical field is 19 billion US dollars, accounting for 12%; public transportation is 16 billion US dollars, accounting for 10%; media entertainment is 14 billion US dollars, accounting for 9%; automotive sector is 13 billion US dollars 8%; financial services are 9 billion US dollars, accounting for 6%; retail sales are 7 billion US dollars, accounting for 4%; agriculture is 2 billion US dollars, accounting for 1%.

Ericsson said that in the 5G field, Ericsson has cooperated with 38 operators, 22 industrial partners and 45 universities and research institutes.

Zhang Zhiwei said that from the current point of view, China will lead the world in 5G deployment, which may accelerate the pace of 5G commercialization. "In the second half of 2018, there will be some 5G commercial products. In 2019, operators will conduct 5G commercial trials in 2020. It will be 5G large-scale commercial use."

On December 19th, Ericsson demonstrated several 5G application scenarios in the R&D center in Shanghai.

One of them is the application demonstration of Ericsson and China Unicom to build eMTC (Cat-M1) VoLTE function - fire alarm trigger panel. In the actual application scenario, when a fire occurs, the trapped person presses the fire alarm trigger panel to notify a number of relevant departments, such as a fire alarm center, an emergency center, and a building property. The trapped person can describe the specific situation of the fire scene through voice and rescue personnel, and get the most timely guidance to improve the efficiency of emergency communication.

The drone is a typical application of the 5G key IoT, which requires high reliability and low latency network support. The same applies to the future 5G application in the driverless field.

The Ericsson 5G UAV demonstrates the combination of 5G UAVs and Ericsson LTE broadcast technology. Through LTE broadcast technology, people can watch pictures taken by 5G UAVs in real time through mobile phones. Applying this technology to large-scale sports events, audiences on-site and off-site can watch the game from all angles through LTE broadcast technology, and experience real-time, high-definition and panoramic immersion.

Zhang Zhiwei said that in the future, 5G driverless driving will be able to create intelligent driving operators, specializing in intelligent driving information management. “It’s not too mature to be drone on a fully open road. It’s possible to open a fully enclosed road in the future, only for unmanned vehicles. This greatly improves the operational efficiency of vehicles and roads. There may also be operators specializing in this business. The 5G business model has a very large imagination." Zhang Zhiwei said that although there are still two years of large-scale commercial use of 5G, the industry must not only have technical verification during this period. The business model is still very tight.

The 5G remotely operated excavator (model) was also demonstrated on site. The two hands make corresponding gestures on a controller, the information is uploaded to the 5G network and transmitted to the robot arm through the 5G air interface in real time, and the robot arm can perform flexible action demonstration in real time according to different actions of the gesture. The 5G remote-controlled excavator connects the front-end mining equipment with the back-end control in real time, and remotely operates large-scale equipment to improve work efficiency and ensure worker safety. In the future, remote control through 5G network can realize remote operation in a dangerous environment and effectively guarantee the safety of personnel.

Ericsson also said in the "Mobile Market Report" that by the end of 2023, the global 5G users will reach 1 billion, and 5G will cover more than 20% of the world's population.
