PGA Tour AR: Play Golf in Your Office with Just Your Phone

Augmented Reality (AR) has been making waves in the sports world, with major leagues like the NBA and soccer teams experimenting with it. Now, the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) has taken a step forward by launching an app called PGA Tour AR. This innovative application allows users to play golf on a table using their mobile phone, bringing the game into a more interactive and immersive experience.

The app is currently available on the App Store. Once downloaded, users need to place their phone on a flat surface, such as a desk, and let the camera recognize the area to "build a golf course." Then, players can start the game with three virtual partners, making for a fun and engaging way to enjoy golf from anywhere.

Google Open Map Data: Empowering Game Developers, Especially in AR

As 2017 approached, both iOS and Android platforms began pushing for more AR content, drawing in developers and hardware companies alike. Recently, Google announced that it would open up its map data to help game developers create more immersive experiences, especially in the realm of AR.

With the new Maps API, real-world geographic features—like buildings, roads, and parks—are transformed into Unity GameObjects. This allows developers to focus on gameplay and creativity rather than spending time building maps from scratch. For example, real hotels could be used as "adventure hubs," and convenience stores could become in-game shops. This move by Google helps developers save time and energy, letting them concentrate on innovation and gameplay without the hassle of manually creating complex environments.

SteamVR Update Brings Resolution Auto-Tuning for Better GPU Performance

Valve recently released an update for SteamVR, introducing a feature called resolution auto-tuning. This feature automatically adjusts the VR headset's display resolution based on the user's PC performance, ensuring the best possible visual quality without overloading the system.

For instance, the newly launched Vive Pro, which features two high-resolution displays (1400 × 1600), will automatically lower the resolution if the PC cannot handle it at full power. However, the resolution will never drop below the native resolution of the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift (1080x1200). On high-end systems, the software will push the graphics card to its limits, delivering the clearest and smoothest visuals. Although this feature is still in the test phase, it’s available for download through Steam. It supports a range of headsets, including the HTC Vive, Vive Pro, Oculus Rift, and Windows MR devices. This update makes it easier for users to set up their VR headsets and choose the optimal resolution for their system, reducing issues like motion sickness and improving overall comfort.

"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR" Releases on PC via Steam on April 3rd

Last November, Sony released a special bundle for PS VR featuring "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR" at a price of $449.99. While the game received mixed reviews, many PC VR users were eager to try it. Fortunately, Bethesda recently announced that the PC version of "Skyrim VR" will launch on Steam on April 3rd, supporting Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Windows MR headsets.

Earlier reports suggested that the PlayStation platform might not fully support the game’s potential, but the PC version offers a much better experience with higher quality, better resolution, and more immersive gameplay. The actual performance will depend on the user’s hardware, so testing is recommended.

The AR Version of "Street Fighter" Proves to Be the Right Way to Revive a Classic Fighting Game

"Street Fighter" holds a special place in the hearts of many gamers. Now, thanks to a developer from Michigan named Abhishek Singh, we're seeing the true meaning of "Street Fighter" come to life in a brand-new AR version.

In this AR adaptation, players can use their mobile phones to bring the game into the real world. Characters appear to float in the air, walk on streets, or sit on desks, blending the virtual and physical worlds seamlessly.

What's even more exciting is that the app supports two-player mode. If you're not satisfied with one set of moves, you can also play "turtle qigong"—a fun and unique twist on traditional fighting mechanics. The interactive interface is simple, yet the movement isn't limited to just horizontal directions; it works on a two-dimensional plane. In the demo video, there's even a scene where players fight around a car and "detonate" it. What makes it even more interesting is that the background is a real car parked nearby, proving how well the AR technology integrates with the real world.

Rental Generators

Rental generators are portable power sources that can be hired or rented for temporary use. They are commonly used in situations where there is a temporary need for electricity, such as during construction projects, outdoor events, or power outages.

Rental generators come in various sizes and power capacities to meet different needs. They are typically fueled by diesel, natural gas, or propane, and can provide electricity to power equipment, appliances, or even entire buildings.

The rental process usually involves contacting a generator rental company and specifying your power requirements. The company will then recommend a suitable generator and provide delivery, setup, and maintenance services. Rental generators are typically rented on a short-term basis, ranging from a few hours to several weeks or months, depending on the customer's needs.

Renting a generator can be a cost-effective solution compared to purchasing one, especially for one-time or infrequent power needs. It also allows for flexibility, as the generator can be easily returned or exchanged if the power requirements change.

When renting a generator, it is important to consider factors such as power capacity, fuel efficiency, noise levels, and any additional accessories or services required. It is also crucial to follow proper safety guidelines and ensure that the generator is used and maintained correctly to prevent accidents or damage.
