On December 22nd, the 4th Member Representative Conference of the Chinese Opera Performance Association and the first Chinese Opera Performance Art + VR Industry Summit Forum were jointly held in Anqing City by the Chinese Opera Performance Society and the People's Government of Yixiu District. Discussions centered on the integration of traditional opera with modern technology, particularly virtual reality, aiming to foster innovation and expand the application of digital tools in the performing arts.
Several key agreements were signed during the event, including the launch of the Anqing Qidi Virtual Reality Industrial Park and the “Chinese Opera Cultural Digital Center†project. These initiatives aim to create a collaborative platform between the government and enterprises, promoting the growth of the cultural industry in Yixiu District.
Experts and scholars from both traditional opera and VR industries shared their insights during keynote speeches and roundtable discussions. Li Wei from Tsinghua University emphasized the role of national policies in supporting the integration of traditional culture with digital technologies. Wang Xuan, President of Digital World, introduced the R+ concept, which includes VR, AR, MR, and HR, and outlined plans to build a comprehensive virtual reality ecosystem.
He Yimin, CEO of Enlighten Digital, stressed the importance of collaboration, fusion, and effectiveness in the development of opera + VR. He called for continued efforts to bridge the gap between traditional art and modern technology, ensuring that both social and economic benefits are achieved.
The event concluded with a grand performance by renowned opera artists, drawing a large audience and showcasing the enduring appeal of traditional opera. This forum marked a significant step in the cross-border integration of culture and technology, offering new opportunities for both the opera and VR industries.
