Today, SynapTIcs, a developer of human interface solutions, announced that it has begun sampling its new 6x6mm Natural ID FS4500 fingerprint sensor solution.
It is reported that the solution provides safe biometrics through glass or ceramic buttons (covering glass thicknesses up to 300 microns). As smartphones increasingly use rugged glass buttons, SynapTIcs will meet the diverse needs of OEMs with industry-leading security features in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials that support different surface materials.
In other words, the sensor allows smartphone manufacturers to mount the fingerprint sensor directly under the protective glass panel of the phone (such as the inactive area below the display), which can enhance the aesthetic appearance of the smartphone and make the whole phone look smoother. Of course, this sensor can also be placed in the Home button.
Thanks to some new features, SynapTIcs' FS4500 sensor will be easier to integrate into mobile terminals. These features include:
Single voltage power supply;
Enhanced navigation based on SynapTIcs' industry-leading touchscreen technology;
Ability to control two "virtual keys" via a fingerprint sensor;
