The standard proposes the evaluation requirements of the luminaire's electromagnetic radiation to the human body. The luminaires specified in the standard that require EMF evaluation include: for lighting purposes, with basic functions for generating and distributing light, and intended to be connected to a low-voltage power supply network or All indoor and outdoor lighting equipment working with batteries; general lighting equipment; one of the main functions is the lighting of multifunctional equipment and independent accessories for lighting equipment.

At present, EN 62493:2010 has entered a transition period. The OJ communique (OJ C 061 of 29/02/2012), published on February 26th, 2012, incorporates EN 62493:2010 into the list of harmonized standards for the LVD Directive, which was implemented on February 1, 2013.

To this end, inspection and quarantine departments remind relevant lighting manufacturers to prepare the following when exporting to the European Union: First, pay attention to the requirements of the new standard, send products to qualified laboratories for testing and certification in accordance with the new standards, and ensure that products meet electromagnetic standards.
