**Xiaomi**Founded in April 2010, Xiaomi Corporation is a leading mobile internet company based in Beijing, specializing in the development of intelligent hardware and electronic products. The company's product philosophy is centered around the concept of "Life for a fever," emphasizing high-quality, affordable, and user-friendly tech solutions.
Xiaomi has revolutionized the tech industry by adopting an Internet-based model that involves users in product development and improvement. This approach has helped the company grow rapidly and establish itself as one of the top four technology companies with self-developed mobile chip capabilities, alongside Apple, Samsung, and Huawei.
The vision of Xiaomi is to "let everyone enjoy the fun of technology." By leveraging the power of the Internet, Xiaomi eliminates intermediaries and delivers high-quality tech products from China to the global market, making cutting-edge innovations accessible to all.
**Xiaomi vs. Cobos – A Comparative Analysis**When choosing a robot vacuum cleaner, path planning and cleaning performance are two of the most important factors. To evaluate the effectiveness of different models, we conducted a series of tests focusing on their cleaning abilities, particularly in challenging scenarios such as cleaning along walls and handling various types of debris.
**How Do the Cleaning Structures Compare?**Xiaomi Mi Home Sweeping Robot
The Xiaomi Mi Home Sweeper features a high-performance Japanese NIDEC brushless motor with a maximum suction force of 1800Pa. It uses a three-stage cleaning system including a side brush and roller brush. The single-side brush design reduces the chance of debris flying and makes it easier to handle tangled objects like cables, offering a practical and efficient solution.
iRobot Roomba 980
The iRobot Roomba 980 uses the AeroForce cleaning system, featuring a brushless motor, two rubber rollers with reverse rotation, and high-efficiency suction. According to the manufacturer, this system increases cleaning efficiency by 50%. It also includes a carpet pressurization mode, which enhances performance when transitioning between different floor types.
Cobos UNIBOT Butler Robot
For this comparison, we tested the Cobos UNIBOT butler robot instead of the Dibao 9 series due to the lack of evaluation units. The UNIBOT features a similar three-stage cleaning structure, including a side brush, roller brush, and 800Pa suction, which is comparable to many other models on the market.
**Cleaning Performance: Xiaomi > iRobot > Cobos**To determine the actual cleaning effectiveness, we conducted a test using the same amount of simulated debris, including flour, rice, melon seeds, and paper scraps. We evaluated not only how much was cleaned but also the difficulty of removing larger particles, such as melon seeds, which can affect overall efficiency.
Test setup with equivalent amounts of simulated debris
Results of the cleaning test
In terms of overall cleaning ability, Xiaomi's sweeper performed the best, followed closely by iRobot, while Cobos showed significant shortcomings. The Xiaomi model left very little residue, especially with fine dust like flour, while the iRobot had some visible traces. Cobos, on the other hand, struggled with even basic cleaning tasks, leaving a noticeable amount of debris behind.
**Wall-Cleaning Ability: Xiaomi > iRobot > Cobos**We further tested the ability of each robot to clean along the wall, simulating real-life scenarios where dust and dirt tend to accumulate in corners and tight spaces.
Xiaomi Mi Home Sweeper along the wall
The Xiaomi model did an excellent job, effectively cleaning the area near the baseboard and even reaching into small gaps. While there was a minor blind spot at the corner, the overall result was impressive.
iRobot 980 along the wall
The iRobot 980 also performed well but was slightly less effective than Xiaomi in certain areas. It missed some spots and didn't cover the corner as thoroughly as expected.
Cobos Housekeeper Robot along the wall
Cobos failed to complete the wall-cleaning test successfully. It got stuck and could not clean the area effectively, indicating limitations in its design and functionality.
**Summary**After two rounds of testing, the results were consistent: Xiaomi’s sweeper outperformed both iRobot and Cobos in terms of cleanliness and edge cleaning. While the iRobot was close in performance, it still lagged slightly behind Xiaomi. Cobos, however, showed no clear advantage over the other two models, especially in difficult cleaning scenarios.
The Xiaomi Mi Home Sweeper offers exceptional cleaning power at an affordable price, making it a strong contender in the market. Although it may not have the same level of path-planning sophistication as some higher-end models, its combination of affordability and performance makes it a compelling choice for most users.
