Apple and Android Patent Battle Upgrading or Spreading More Manufacturers

Smartphone patent wars have entered the "fight." Against the initial judgment of the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) administrative judge against Apple's lawsuit against HTC, HTC responded yesterday that it will counter ITC against Apple.

The newspaper (Reporter Duan Yanqun), chairman of HTC China, Ren Weiguang, told our reporter yesterday that the decision to counterclaim Apple is the unified deployment of HTC headquarters. He said that China is one of the most important markets for HTC, and HTC will increase its promotion in China in the next two months.

According to industry insiders, due to the current widespread use of the Android system, patent disputes between Apple and HTC do not involve only two parties. Once HTC loses, the patented stick may spread to more manufacturers.

HTC actively counterattacks

On Sunday, the ITC’s administrative judge initially ruled that HTC violated Apple’s two patents. This is a complaint filed by Apple Inc. to ITC last year. Apple claimed that HTC’s Android phone is suspected of infringing on 10 patents of its company. This initial judgment was just two of the 10 patents.

In response, HTC responded quickly yesterday and stated that it would file counterclaims against Apple by ITC; stepped up the purchase of patents, and HTC immediately held a temporary board of directors and announced the purchase of 20,000 treasury shares to declare the company’s confidence in fundamentals. Finally, we adjusted the structure of some regions and increased the intensity of new product launches.

According to reports, HTC sued Apple Inc. for infringement last year. On July 6 this year, HTC announced that it will spend US$300 million (approximately NT$8.7 billion) to acquire the entire equity of S3 Graphics, a graphics technology company owned by VIA, and S3 Graphics Win Apple infringement. The industry believes that HTC may be able to increase its own bargaining power with Apple by virtue of S3 Graphics' strength in pattern compression patents.

Or more manufacturers

According to media reports, the ITC identified HTC's allegedly infringing patents are No. 5946647 and No. 6343263, "Systems and Means Needed for Running an Instruction in Computer-Generated Data" and "For data transmitted in a continuous manner." Instant Signal Processing System". Industry insiders are worried that because these two patented technologies are an important part of the Android architecture, they are not exclusively used by HTC. Therefore, if the ITC finally determines that the HTC's Android phone infringes on Apple's two patents, then the patent stick or even more manufacturers.

According to foreign reports, Apple’s new iPhone will be launched in September, and HTC’s counter-infringement of Apple will also have preliminary results in September. Industry insider Yang Qun believes that the patent battle between Apple and the Android camp will continue.
