Japan Electronic Components Decline 15% in April Exports

According to the statistics of the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA), the export volume of electronic components of Japanese manufacturers in April was 15% lower than that of the same period in 2010, and it was only 259.5 billion yen, which has seen a four-month recession. Due to the impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the supply chains of production plants in Japan and overseas have broken the chain phenomenon, resulting in unsatisfactory shipments. Japan’s domestic shipments also saw a 19% decline.

From the perspective of product shipments, passive components declined by 5%, connected components decreased by 8.5%, conversion components declined by 27.2%, and other electronic components declined by 30%. Individual products also experienced a 13-item decline compared with the same period in 2010. In particular, small motors with a large number of applications have fallen by 32% and shipments have only reached 21.9 billion yen. High-frequency components such as TV tuner devices also declined by 35%, and the shipment amounted to 12.4 billion yen, which continued to be in a sluggish state. The audio components such as small microphones that were previously used in smartphone shipments have also turned into recession.
