The World's First UHV Series Completion Control Protection Passes the Joint Test

Recently, the technical staff of the Chinese Academy of Electric Power successfully completed all the pilot projects of the world's first 1000 kV UHV AC pilot demonstration project expansion project series of complementary control and protection coordination test in the Power System Simulation Laboratory of the National Grid Simulation Center. The test has fully tested the joint operation characteristics of the UHV Series Compensated Control Protection System, Spark Gap Trigger Control Box, Monitoring System, Line Protection Device, and Fault Recorder Substation used in the project.

According to the staff, the test lasted for more than 45 days and completed a total of 4 categories, 8 major items, 53 subitems, and 557 tests. Through this experiment, the stability and reliability of various devices of the control and protection system were comprehensively improved. It is of great significance to effectively shorten the on-site commissioning time and ensure the smooth operation of the equipment.

UHV Series Compensates Power Capacitors in series in UHV AC transmission lines to compensate for the electrical distances of AC transmission lines, thereby increasing the system's transmission capacity, improving system stability, and saving investment. Series compensation devices are used in UHV AC transmission projects and are the first time at home and abroad. The Chinese Academy of Electric Power undertook the research and development task of the series of core equipment-control protection systems.

According to the introduction of the staff, the control and protection system for the UHV series compensator has the functions of measuring the electrical quantity of the series compensator, monitoring the operating status, executing the control operation command, and protecting the equipment. It is the core equipment for ensuring the safe and stable operation of the UHV series compensator. Its main devices include: control and protection devices, measurement and control devices, platform measurement box, spark gap trigger control box, local monitoring man-machine interface, fault recording man-machine interface.

Under the leadership of the State Grid Corporation of China, the Chinese Academy of Electric Power has overcome the difficulties of short time and heavy tasks. It has completed the research and development of prototypes, prototypes, type tests, and stereotyped production of all key equipment for the control and protection system as planned, and has fully summarized the original. Based on the experience in engineering application of the 500 kV series compensatory control protection system, the UHV project has undergone several key improvements and important upgrades in response to the complex electromagnetic environment and high reliability requirements, and has formulated high-voltage electromagnetic field anti-jamming tests. , High-current electromagnetic field anti-jamming test, UHV true platform electromagnetic field anti-jamming test and other targeted test verification methods, the formation of relevant test verification standards.

It is understood that all the equipment participating in the trial will be delivered to the site of the UHV AC pilot demonstration project expansion project before August 10th for installation.
