The modem's Chinese name is a modem, commonly known as "cat." The earliest cats mainly referred to modems used for dial-up Internet access via telephone lines. Now, with the popularity of wireless networks, SMS cats, GPRS cats, and MMS cats have also emerged. General modem (cat) and computer connection through the serial port, but the alarm system sometimes need to connect the device through the network port, this time the serial port server PY-8600 is generally used to achieve the serial port to Ethernet function to connect the modem and computer.
Steps for connecting the serial server to the Modem: (taking PY-R56 as an example)
1 First connect the PY-R56 MODEM to the COM port of the computer through the serial port cable, and set the AT command through the HyperTerminal (according to the manual)
2 Connect the serial port of the cat with the serial port of the PY-8600 series server, and connect the network port of the PY-8600 to the computer.
3 Use the PY-8600 virtual serial port software to create a computer COM port, such as COM6. The found PY-8600 device is bound to COM6. In this case, COM6 actually corresponds to the serial port of the modem.
4 Create a dial-up connection with COM6 as the port and start dialing. Afterwards, the user computer dials the data via COM6->virtual serial port driver->PY-8600 network port->PY-8600 serial port->Modem serial port->phone line.
