E-mail can also be used as evidence: Alibaba Cloud Mailbox holds e-certificates with blockchain

In the block chain sub-forum of Hangzhou Yunqi Conference in 2016, Alibaba Cloud Mailbox Co., Ltd. greatly promoted the development of mailbox authentication products based on blockchain technology.

According to reports, after the product goes online, users can synchronize important data characteristics (including hash values) to authoritative third-party organizations; once a dispute arises, users can download the full text of their own messages and send it to the judicial authentication agency. After the original mail feature data is compared with the previous evidence data, a corresponding certificate appraisal report can be generated. According to this report, the user can effectively maintain their own legitimate rights and interests.

At present, due to e-mail falsification and easiness of counterfeiting , once a dispute arises in the e-mail transaction of business cooperation, the source of the e-mail, the content of the e-mail, and the authenticity of the receiving/sending subject need to be reviewed and the authentication is difficult. In addition, in the current e-mail forensics link, the only effective way is for the public security, prosecutors or courts and other judicial agencies to e-mail operators to retrieve the original electronic data e-mail, as the basis for determining the case. However, this approach involves multiple coordination, and the labor cost and time cost are too high.

With blockchain technology based on decentralized, distributed storage, and tamper-proof, Alibaba Cloud’s email storage products can theoretically guarantee the security and stability of email as electronic evidence and prevent data from being tampered with. Use e-mail as evidence to provide a low-cost storage service plan.

According to Sina science and technology report, Prof. Yang Dong, deputy dean of the Law School of Renmin University of China, believes that the change and innovation of blockchain technology to existing legal norms and legal systems is due to the trust mechanism that is reconstructed from its technical architecture. It will simplify the legal relationship or structure in traditional transactions.
